The GEACF to Present Kim Massie and the Solid Senders to Benefit Scholarships for the Arts

Kim Massie and the Solid Senders will be performing Sat., October 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Edwardsville Lewis and Clark Campus in the Leclaire Room. This concert acts as a fundraiser for the Greater Edwardsville Area Community Foundatin to benefit scholarships for the arts.

Online PR News – 11-September-2013 – EDWARDSVILLE, IL – The Greater Edwardsville Area Community Foundation (GEACF) is proud to be presenting Kim Massie and the Solid Senders as part of a fundraiser to benefit scholarships for the arts, both visual and performing. The GEACF and Edwardsville Arts Center have partnered together to promote this event.

The fundraiser will be held Sat., October 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Edwardsville Lewis and Clark Campus in the Leclaire Room.

“We are very excited to help raise funds for our various GEACF scholarship programs that are awarded annually to students in our community,” said Mary Westerhold, Chairman of the GEACF Board of Directors, said. “We hope that our community, along with local business partners, will join us again this year for a special evening of entertainment.”

The Greater Edwardsville Area Community Foundation, established in 1997, is a charitable trust that receives, manages, and distributes tax-deductible charitable contributions for the benefit of the greater Edwardsville area communities and residents.

The Community Foundation’s focus is dedicated to the enhancement and betterment of the quality of life in the communities of Edwardsville, Glen Carbon, Hamel, Moro, Dorsey, Worden, and the surrounding areas. One of the areas the Foundation focuses on is scholarships. The Foundation manages approximately 80 scholarships annually. This fundraiser will provide scholarship money to grant to students through various local arts organizations to encourage their continued interest in the arts.

Kim Massie is one of the most recognizable vocalists in the Midwest. Her ability to sing not only the blues but also rock, pop, country, gospel, and R&B has earned her two Best Female Vocalists of the Year Awards from the Riverfront Times as well as the Grand Center Visionary Award in 2005. A grandmother of six, Massie has shared the stage with artists such as Cyndi Lauper, India Arie, Nelly, and Chuck Berry.

When Massie is not on tour or playing premier events, she can be found with her band, the Solid Senders, at her favorite venue and Saint Louis blues mainstay, Beale on Broadway.
