Eastpointe LME/MCO to Hold Free Educational Session to Help Participants on the Pathway to Wellness

September is Recovery Month. Recovery Month is a national observance that raises awareness of mental and substance use disorders, celebrates individuals in long term recovery, and acknowledges the work of prevention, treatment, and recovery support services.

Online PR News – 10-September-2013 – Elizabethtown, NC – To promote local awareness, Eastpointe LME/MCO will sponsor a free educational session on Friday, September 27, from 10:30 am until noon. The program will be, “Principles of Recovery: The Experience of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Recovery”.

Eastpointe conducts free monthly community education sessions in Bladen County, sponsoring programs designed to increase the education and awareness of the community on a variety of topics related to behavioral healthcare. Nicole Wilson is the Eastpointe Community Relations Specialist dedicated to working with citizens and community partners in Bladen County. The topic, “Principles of Recovery: The Experience of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Recovery”, will be presented by Marc Jacques, Executive Director of the North Carolina Mental Health Consumers’ Organization. Jacques is also the Vice-Chair of the State Consumer and Family Advisory Committee, and was the 2012 recipient of the Ken Steele Award for Advocacy, a national award presented by the National Alliance on Mental Illness ( NAMI ). “The story of Mr. Jacques’ journey to recovery is powerful, and his message of hope is inspirational. I strongly encourage anyone interested in learning more about recovery to attend”, says Wilson. The event will be held on Friday, September 27 from 10:30 am until noon at the Bladen County Cooperative Extension Office, 450 Smith Circle Drive, in Elizabethtown. The session is free and open to the general public, but registration is recommended to ensure adequate materials are available.
