Curtis Elton Is The Youngest Schoolboy In The World To Receive Degree Equivalent Diploma!

At the age of eight, Curtis Elton ATCL was thought to be one of the youngest people in the country to pass a Grade 8 ABRSM music exam in piano.

Online PR News – 10-September-2013 – Cambridge – One year on, the prodigious young talent has gone one step better – he’s the youngest person in the world to gain an ATCL diploma (equivalent to first year degree level) for his piano playing.

It’s clear the piano playing is in the blood, his mother Hayley Elton was the youngest person (at the age of 8) to gain entrance to the Guildhall School Of Music. She began teaching Curtis at the tender age of three, after she noticed that as well as enjoying listening to his mother play; Curtis had unusually high levels of concentration and focus. Immediately it was evident that Curtis had a gift. This year alone, Curtis has been nominated for a Nickelodeon Fruit Shoot skills award for the best rising star; invited to a Yamaha event to promote both a Disney film and GAP clothing; and invited to take part in the London Master classes at the Royal College of Music with world renowned conductor Benjamin Zander, who was blown away by his talent.

After all of the recent interest and success, Curtis and Hayley have decided together that now is the time to release something; and have recorded upcoming CD ‘daydreams’ which will be released in November. Featuring fresh interpretations of much loved classical pieces (including compositions by Schubert, Mozart and Bach); the tranquil ten track album is a wonderful showcase of the talent bursting from the Mother/Son duo. The idea to record something together came to the pair whilst they were in the midst of a UK tour of schools and nurseries with the Yamaha Music Company; “We have always enjoyed playing together and wanted to collaborate on a project together that we’ll be able to remember for years to come”.

‘Daydreams’ is set for release on 4th November
