HBO Archives Introduces Vintage Sports Footage Available for Playback and Clip Licensing

Featuring a wide variety of sports events from 1973-84. Much of this footage has not seen since its original broadcast. Events include basketball, tennis, hockey, boxing, gymnastics and more.

Online PR News – 09-September-2013 – New York, NY – HBO Archives® announces the launch of The Vintage Sports Collection, the newest addition to its clip licensing library. This extensive collection is comprised of deep and varied sporting events from the mid-1970s through the early 1980’s. This material is available now for licensing to all types of productions, including documentaries, feature films, corporate presentations and museum exhibitions.
“The diversity of our Vintage Sports Collection comes from some of the highest profile organizations from that era. The collection contains competition from the worlds of basketball, hockey, soccer, gymnastics, boxing, skating, track and field, swimming and diving, wrestling, body-building, bowling, skiing, tennis, rodeo, mixed martial arts and even national horse and dog shows.
Specific examples include basketball Hall-of-Famers, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird from their college days, three-time boxing champion – Alexis Arguello, bowling legend Earl Anthony. All-time tennis great, Martina Navratilova and Olympians Mary Lou Retton and Greg Louganis. One of the more unusual and trapped in the 70’s event, is the Gold Skate Classic. This was the leading roller skate competition at that time.
