Online PR News – 17-June-2010 – – Alfa Travel are proud to announce a new programme of coach holiday tours to beautiful Bognor Regis. The news comes as Alfa’s sister company, Leisureplex Hotels, announce the purchase of the Royal Norfolk Hotel in Bognor Regis.

The news follows hot on the heels of the acquisition earlier this year of the Seabank Hotel in Porthcawl. Like the Seabank, the Royal Norfolk is a landmark hotel and a major feature of the resort.

The acquisition brings the Leisureplex portfolio to a total of 19 hotels, many of them listed buildings and all of them in prime seaside locations in perennially popular British seaside resorts. Leisureplex Hotels are renowned for their consistent quality standards and outstanding hospitality.

The newest member of the chain is also the oldest complete property, dating back to 1830 with a long tradition as one of Bognor Regis’ finest hotels. Steeped in history, the Grade II listed Royal Norfolk has been sensitively extended on several occasions and boasts an imposing façade and extensive gardens. Over the years, it has been frequented by royalty including Emperor Napoleon III of France and various descendants of Queen Victoria. The Royal Coat of Arms which adorns the façade appears to have been originally added without royal consent, although it has been officially permitted since 1917.

The 43 room property commands a most enviable position on Bognor’s picturesque esplanade and lies within easy reach of the many attractions of West Sussex including England’s newest National Park, the South Downs. This is quintessential England with downland villages and beautiful countryside at every turn. Chichester and Glorious Goodwood are just a few miles away and Portsmouth, Arundel, Worthing and Glyndebourne are all only a short hop.

Beautiful Bognor Regis (the resort was simply Bognor until George V’s visit in 1929) regularly tops the charts for the most sunshine hours in a year! The bustling seaside town sits alongside Blue Flag beaches and is just minutes away from Littlehampton and its marina.

Leisureplex Managing Director Paul Sawbridge said, "We are very proud to announce the purchase of the Royal Norfolk. It is an atmospheric building and sits well alongside our many other historic buildings. We are delighted to have a presence in West Sussex which has some of the most interesting places to visit in the whole of England. Demand for our hotels continues to be very strong and we are thrilled to be playing our part in the revival of tourism within the UK."

The Royal Norfolk will reopen under the Leisureplex banner in time for the Goodwood Festival of Speed on the 2nd July. Demand for the hotel is expected to be particularly high as the popularity of British breaks enjoys a much deserved revival.
