What began as a personal anniversary tribute for the founder of handstamped jewelry company Punky Jane has blossomed into a collection with more than 60 unique designs.
Online PR News – 20-August-2013 – Woodland, CA – Punky Jane Jewelry, a personalized, hand stamped jewelry company, celebrates the fourth anniversary of their ground-breaking Mark Your Calendar™ Collection this month.
Punky Jane Jewelry Founder Sandy Simpson, who spent two decades as a graphic designer in the newspaper and corporate world, ventured into stamped jewelry in 2008. She was also an avid scrapbooker and loved documenting family milestones on calendars.
About a year after launching Punky Jane, Simpson sat in her then-studio — the corner of her one-car garage — and merged her love of scrapbooking with her love of typography and crafting jewelry by creating a simple, stylish, rectangle-shaped handstamped calendar of May 2000. The date of her wedding anniversary was encircled with a stamped oval. It was her first Mark Your Calendar Necklace.
The rest, as they say, is history. Gone is the little corner work area of the garage. Today, a fully equipped Punky Jane studio has its headquarters in a renovated water tower next to her family’s Northern California home. She has handmade thousands of calendar jewelry pieces for jewelry lovers around the world. While customers adore having the names of loved ones emblazoned on their jewelry, the calendar pieces are increasingly in demand as customers seek a personal memento of weddings, birthdays, memorials, graduations, and special milestones.
“When I had this little idea of making a stamped, sterling silver calendar necklace to commemorate my wedding anniversary, I never imagined it would become such an integral part of Punky Jane,” said Simpson.
Punky Jane’s Mark Your Calendar Collection now comes in over 60 styles and variations, including calendar necklaces, charms, bracelets, key chains, cuff links and money clips. It’s easy to personalize them even more with a wide variety of charms and stamped additions.
Punky Jane specializes in bringing her customer’s visions to life. Some designs are even the result of collaboration with the customer. New designs and ideas are always on the horizon. And her jewelry creations continue to garner rave reviews.
“I gave this (Mark Your Calendar keychain) to my fiancé for our one year anniversary,” said a customer. “I liked it because he can use it as a keychain when he deploys soon, he’s planning on putting it on his dog tags."
Although Simpson now has an administrative staff, she is still personally involved with the handcrafting of each piece of jewelry created in her studio. She loves the artistic challenge and the joy that comes from creating new designs. She now has more than 200 designs in her collection.
“In this digital age of tweets and texts, handcrafted items with personal significance are more important than ever,” Simpson said. “I’m thrilled that my stamped jewelry connects our customers to the people, milestones and memories they hold most dear.”
