On 13th Feb, 2010 EMI organised a lecture on “QUALITY DECISION MAKING” by Dr. Anil Sarin, Dean Academics, Manav Rachna International.
Dr. Sarin explained that the most important job of a manager is decision making. A person can be differentiated from others only through his decision making ability.
He highlighted, as the business environment is very dynamic, so things keep changing, like, earlier the Decision Making was important but later on, it was felt that there was a need for ‘Qualitative Decision Making’, after some time Qualitative Decision Making became obsolete and now the era is of ‘Quick Qualitative Decisions’.
Today the things change with the blink of an eye, so we need to get Quick Qualitative Information to make most efficient and effective decisions. Every person is more or less same, it is just his decision making ability which makes him different from other.
Dr Sarin cited the example of Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani, it was his Decision Making ability and futuristic vision that he upgraded his power plant from 7 Richter to 8.5 Richter to make the plant more resistant from earthquakes and due to which they survived the earthquake in Gujarat.
He concluded by saying that we should make Quick Qualitative Decision which is ethical and transparent in nature with futuristic view.
As part of Industry-Academia-Interaction (IAI), EMI strives to keep its students abreast with the latest management thinking, there is an ongoing lecture program inviting eminent professionals, academicians and achievers from all walks of life.
