iRacing Leauge: Integrity Racing League Andrew Fayash III Captures Series Leading 5th Win

The Pro Powder and Paint Series made race stop 22 at Homestead on the iRacing service. Contenders battled for the victory including a host of Buttkicker Rookie of the Year contenders. In the end, the great strategy and seasoned skill of Andrew Fayash III captured the win.

Online PR News – 06-August-2013 – Richmond VA – The Integrity Racing League Pro Powder and Paint Silverado Series made a stop down near the sunny beaches of Florida last Saturday night for a fun and exciting 125 lap race at Homestead Miami Speedway on the iRacing service. The race marked the 22nd event in the season’s 36 race schedule. Twenty seven trucks make the trip in an effort to take the victory in what would be a hotly contested race. Matthew Wright earned the pole for the event with a blistering lap of 32.649 seconds. This was Wright’s second pole of the season. Brenden Koehler posted the second best lap time and earned the outside pole starting position. Perennial pole sitter Matt Bussa was relegated to a third place starting position, something that had to feel foreign to the ten time pole winner this season. Season points leader Michael Dewell started from the 9th position. Four time race winner, Andrew Fayash III both struggled with the track and posted the 12th fastest qualifying time of the evening. The leading Buttkicker Rookie of the Year qualifier was Christopher Shella, posting an impressive 6th quickest time.

As the green flag waved drivers would jockey for position and try to make the way to the front. Buttkicker Rookie James Hudson led 12 laps in the early laps and Bruce Koenig made and impressive early effort, running in the top three. Christopher Shella joined the duo to battle for the lead. The first caution came out on lap 27, when the battle for the lead became a little too intense as Hudson got loose and came across the nose of Shella sending both trucks across the track and into the backstretch grass. This caution provided all of the drivers an opportunity to come into the pit lane and get a fresh set of tires and better understand how the trucks would handle on the track.

The final caution of the night came out on lap 63 and the long green flag run forced drivers to take gambles. The best fuel conserving drivers were all at least six laps short from being able to make it the finish line. Many drivers would be calculating and playing strategy to determine what type of calls they would make in the pits to try and put there driver at the top of the board. The final pitstops of the night started just before lap 100 as points leader Michael Dewell was be one of the first drivers to hit pit lane along with Hudson and Matt Bussa. Some drivers like Anthony Yankello, Christopher Shella, Jim Papa Fyfe, and others took fuel only. Some like Jacob Fyfe, Andrew Fayash III, and Brenden Koehler took two tires and others like Bussa and Hudson took four. The strategy of when to come to pit lane was also important. Fayash stayed out on the track longer than any of the other contenders and managed to maintain competitive lap times, even with aging tires. The top three after the pitstops were Andrew Fayash, Christopher Shella, and Michael Guest.

Taking home a top five finish after leading numerous laps in the beginning of the race wasthe #7 of Brenden Koehler. Coming home in fourth after overcoming early difficulties was the #34 of Matt Bussa. In third position for the night was the #74 of Michael Guest and coming home in the runner-up position just shy of taking his first IRL win would be the Buttkicker Rookie #02 of Christopher Shella. Taking home his 5th win of the season in only 9 starts was be the #77 of Andrew Fayash III. Fayash stated that the track was not among his favorite. He continues to march toward the Buttkicker Chase for the Championship Series, which concludes at Homestead this November.
