Bengaluru: The traditional and iconic gastronomic symbol of seafood - Mahesh Lunch Home – kicked off the First-Ever Steam Seafood Festival, at Bengaluru, over the weekend.

The launch party, hosted by Suraj Shetty and Niraj Pandey, partners, Mahesh Lunch Home, Bengaluru, saw an eclectic mix of dignitaries and celebrities alike from all walks of life. Arjuna award winners Reeth Abraham, National Champion Athlete, was seen in an animated conversation with former Indian Hockey goalkeeper and captain Ashish Ballal and his wife Sahana, over Cheesy Crab Meat Tartlets. The Tollywood brigade was represented by South sirens Radhika and Tina Ponappa. The only claws that came out between them were Steamed Crab Claw Dumplings.

The corporate world was represented by Hiroshi Nakagawa, MD, Toyota, who came with family and colleagues and seemed to be in high spirits over smouldering portions of Steamed Prawn Siew Mai and Haryali Pomfret. Viveck Shettyy, MD, Indus Communications was ensconced in an extended conversation with BNS Reddy, Joint Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru, over a Prawn Cocktail.

The Festival will feature a steamy fusion of the finest seafood recipes on land with the most delectable species from the sea right through August 01 – 14, 2013.

Started in 1977 at Fort, Mahesh Lunch Home, has enjoyed an iconic status with seafood lovers from all over the country and has expanded to five outlets in Maharashtra and one in Bengaluru. The awards and accolades earned over the years bear testimony of their excellence and have recently been adjudged as the Best Restaurant – Indian Cuisine – at the CNBC Awaaz Travel Awards 2013. Speaking on the eve of the Steam Seafood Festival, owner Suraj Shetty said, “It has been an untiring endeavour on our part since the last three decades to provide an exhilarating gastronomic experience for our patrons. Experimenting and reinventing has been a part of our work philosophy and the Steam SeaFood Festival will be as hot, spicy and steamy as our events in the past.”

Mouth watering preparations like Cheesy Crab Meat Tartlets, Chicken Har Gao, Crab Claw Dumplings, Creole Mushrooms, Hariyali Pomfret, Herbed Prawns Cocktail, Steamed Crab Claw Dumplings, Steamed Prawn Siew Mai, Vegetable Kothe among others feature on this special menu.
