We are happy to announce the launch of Hummba.com, a new social networking site that allows users to connect in real time while travelling, directly from their mobile phones.

The name Hummba is derived from the Zulu word Hamba, meaning to go, move or travel.
The Hummba website and mobile application is reliable and easy to use, and enriches the travelling experience by providing a platform to stay in touch effortlessly, make travel information accessible in any environment and offer users tools to communicate their travel experiences.
The mobile application is compatible with Nokia, Iphone and Android mobile phones and is in the process of being developed for Blackberry. The application will be available to download from all relevant application stores around the country.
Features on Hummba.com include breadcrumbs, which are single geo-tagged photos that can be taken, uploaded and given a description. Footprints allow users to track their routes while uploading geo-tagged photos. Hummba.com allows users to update their statuses and browse news feed, letting them know what their friends have been doing via status-, footprint- and breadcrumb updates. Users can also comment on pictures, send messages to each other and benefit from the Hummba travel guides.
Hummba Guides are free and provide a virtual tour guide for our users. It offers relevant and accurate information that can be downloaded onto a user’s phone, highlighting points of interest or focusing on specific interesting routes that can be taken while you’re travelling, e.g. A Walking Tour of the City Bowl or A Guide to London’s Must See Attractions. With regard to the FIFA 2010 World Cup, over 200 clips in different guides detail information on the different cities that will be hosting the Football World Cup. These have been uploaded onto the site and are available for downloading, including information on culture, games being hosted, the teams that are playing, information on stadiums, what attractions are recommended in the particular cities, food, transport and weather, to name a few.
