For-Sale-By-Owners are using real estate and marketing tools to sell their home, bypassing agent commissions
Online PR News – 08-July-2013 – Boca Raton, Fla. – With the housing market on the mend, homeowners are saving thousands by listing their home as a For Sale By Owner. The time to sell is now: Prices are increasing faster than at any time since 2005, experts forecast prices to continue rising, and mortgage rates remain near all-time lows. That means homeowners can finally make a real profit – especially if they avoid paying thousands to an agent.
With the national median home sale price now at $208,000, for-sale-by-owner home sellers are saving $12,480 (based on a 6-percent brokerage fee). Some are having as much success as those with agents: In 2012, 9 percent of all homes sold directly by the owner sold in 8 weeks versus 12 weeks when sold by an agent.
“For-Sale-By-Owner home sellers have plenty of help: There are many tools and marketing options out there to set them up for success,” says Greg Sullivan, president of ByOwner.com. “Among these tools are home valuations sites that help determine market values and county appraisal sites that show neighborhood sales,” Sullivan adds. In just a few minutes, homeowners can post their home for sale on a number of real-estate classified sites. Many of these sites are free and some enable For-Sale-By-Owners to add their property to Realtor.com® and other high-traffic websites.
