According to the comScore report, almost half (48%) of the time spent in the "retail" category occurred on mobile devices, with smartphones (34%) outpacing tablets (14%). All told, e-commerce accounted for 10.6% of all discretionary spending, the highest share on record. In fact, spending on mobile devices pumped $5.9 billion into the economy. (Ibid.)
