No we are not talking about the human race coming together to ward off an alien attack but the wave of humanity coming forth to offer help and assistance in the wake of the Uttarakhand floods.

In a rare show of compassion and humanity, former Municipal Councilor and Congressman Barudgar Abdul Aziz (Bablu) led by and made a contribution of Rs.2 lakhs for the relief work in the wake of the Uttarakhand floods disaster.

Presenting the cheque to Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and the newly-appointed AICC General Secretary and member of CWC Gurudas Kamat at the recently held Mumbai Congress meeting at Shanmukhananda Hall, Mumbai, a visibly emotional Bablu said, “It is disasters and crises like these that make you realise Humanity is a true virtue and irrespective of caste or creed, we must unite and come together for our brethren and fellow countrymen in their hour of need.”

This event where the calamity in the North took centre stage was graced by Gurudas Kamat (MP, Gen Secretary AICC & Member of CWC), Murli Deora (Permanent Invitee CWC), Sanjay Nirupam (MP & Secretary AICC) and Priya Dutt (MP & Secretary AICC) and Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. Convened by Prof. J.C. Chandurkar, President, Mumbai Congress, the gathering saw a heavy turnout of top local and state Congress political leaders like Mohan Prakashji, Shivajirao Deshmukh and Manikrao Thakare among a host of others.
