NEWARK, NJ, June 19, 2013 – JRT Multimedia announces the appearance of Dr. Sampson Davis at the Barnes and Noble book store located in the Potomac Yards Shopping Center, 3561 Jefferson Davis Highway, Alexandria, VA this Saturday, June 22 from 2:00 pm- 4:00 pm.

In addition to the meet and greet book signing reception, Dr. Davis, a New Jersey board certified emergency medicine physician, will present excerpts from his new book release entitled, Living and Dying in Brick City, An ER Doctor Returns Home (Spiegel & Grau, 2013). Favorite “It” girl around town, Juli Jordan will be on hand to host Dr. Davis and also introduce her latest business venture, my Oh! spot, a gourmet organic food and beverage company. Guests will be learn more about this modern day Renaissance man’s riveting up front personal account of working with disenfranchised men, women and children that come through his emergency room daily. He knows personally and professionally from first-hand experience the healthcare crisis facing inner city communities across America. Dr. Davis’s sister, a drug addict, died of AIDS; his brother is now paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair as a result of a bar fight; and he himself did time in juvenile detention - a wake-up call that changed his life. Now with coming full circle as an emergency room physician who grew up in the very neighborhood he is now serving, combined with his philanthropic endeavors as a founding member of the Three Doctors Foundation, and the author of The Pact - Dr. Davis is truly… The Face of a Real Life Hero.

Guests will have the opportunity to purchase books on site and bring advance copies to have autographed by the good doctor who was recently featured during an hour-long segment on Dr. Oz’s hit TV show. “It is important to give education a sense of style. To glorify and glamorize education is the key. A face must be present, a concrete image that all individuals across America can draw inspiration from,” said Dr. Davis.

This is an exciting opportunity for attendees to engage with Dr. Davis’ fascinating journey from growing up as the fifth of six children in one of New Jersey’s poorest cities to evolving to become a successful emergency room doctor and community activist. As a child, Dr. Davis grew up in cramped living quarters surrounded by fragmented families, crime and drugs. In spite of the obvious challenges he was a good student and able to strike the fragile balance between being smart while also socially acceptable on the streets. It was this skill Dr. Davis says was most critical to his survival.
