The Government congratulates the IAB on the professional organisationâ€™s success in bookkeeping as they celebrate their 40th anniversary this year.

The Government has congratulated the IAB as it celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, on a significant achievement and MP Michael Fallon has highlighted the importance of bookkeeping skills to business success.
The Government has applauded the organisationâ€™s 40-year commitment to improving financial skills through bookkeeper training, examinations and qualifications, adding that they were essential in supporting the drive for economic growth.
Journalist Trevor Sturgess interviewed Business and Enterprise Minister Michael Fallon, who is also the Conservative MP for Sevenoaks in Kent, the town where the IAB was based for many years and he sent a personal message to the organisation.
He said: â€śReaching a 40th anniversary is a significant achievement and I applaud the IAB for their on-going commitment to improving financial skills within firms.

The International Association of Book-keepers was founded in 1973 and is the professional body for members who provide bookkeeping and accounting services to accounting firms and businesses, in the UK and many countries throughout the world and has more than 10,000 members worldwide.
The IAB is celebrating the 40-year milestone with a number of special events and awards throughout June 2013 with Chief Executive of IAB Malcolm Trotter and guest speakers including best selling author Tony Robinson OBE.
The IAB Awards Ceremony for Finance and Small Businesses are being held in London on Friday 21st June 2013 at 7pm.
