The Hudson County Genealogical & Historical Society is the recipient of the 2013 J. Owen Grundy History Award, presented by The Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy for its highly informative website.
Online PR News – 19-June-2013 – JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Hudson County Genealogical & Historical Society, one of the only genealogy and family history groups focused entirely on the study of Hudson County, New Jersey, is pleased to announce that the Society is the recipient of the 2013 J. Owen Grundy History Award, presented by The Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy.
The award is named for the late master historian and given in recognition of written or visual works or a body of work that captures and gives life to historical events, periods and people. The Hudson County Genealogical & Historical Society was selected for its “highly informative website.” The award was presented at a buffet dinner at the Loews Theater in Jersey City, New Jersey on Thursday May 30th as part of The Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy annual Preservation Awards in celebration with National Preservation Month.
Hudson County Genealogical & Historical Society President Jane Mackesy, who accepted the award on behalf of the Society, commented “What an honor it is for the HCG&HS to be awarded the J. Owen Grundy Award by the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy for our website. J. Owen Grundy spent his life working diligently to preserve and promote the history of Jersey City. We hope that our website can inspire others to investigate the genealogy of their Hudson County ancestors and preserve the history of not only Jersey City, but the other towns in Hudson County as well. The Hudson County Genealogical & Historical Society, a 501 (c)(3) New Jersey Non Profit Corporation, was formed in October 2007 to promote the study of genealogy and the history of Hudson County.
