TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
CHICAGO – June 10, 2013 – The James Tyree Foundation today announced that it has expanded its board of directors with the appointment of Chicago public relations agency owner, Scott Phillips.
Mr. Phillips, 55, is founder and CEO of the Chicago-based public relations firm, Scott Phillips + Associates, Inc. SP+A provides strategic communications consulting services to a diverse mix of industry leading U.S. and international corporations and organizations. The firm’s practice areas range from business-to-business technologies and professional services to consumer product companies and nonprofit groups.
“I met Jim more than 25 years ago, and we became fast friends based on our mutual passions for Chicago business, politics and sports,” Mr. Phillips said. “I admired and respected him for so many things, not the least of which was his dedication to helping others. I hope to extend that dedication by supporting the very good work of his foundation.”
Prior to forming SP+A in 1990, Mr. Phillips served as vice president of Janet Diederichs and Associations Inc. He previously held senior management positions with other Chicago-based public relations firms. He is a founding member of PR Boutiques International, a network of more than 30 public relations firms in 16 countries around the world. He has served on the board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Illinois, Lakeside Community Development Corporation and the Kevin Shannon Foundation.
Mr. Phillips was graduated from Purdue University with degrees in public relations and journalism. A native of Indianapolis, he resides on Chicago North Side.
