According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Kenya ranks 15th on the list of 22 high burden Tuberculosis (TB) affected countries in the world. With over 150,000 people suffering from the disease, TB remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality in Kenya.

TIBU is the only Comprehensive Program Management System for Disease tracking and Health Information System available Globally offering Seamless integration from facility level all the way up to National Health Information System. This Hybrid Solution is designed to work with Android devices and Cloud based infrastructure even in those remote locations where there is no electricity and mobile signals. With a very strong Geo-spatial reporting capabilities TIBU is empowering the Ministerial staff to Monitor and take corrective actions in real time mode.
In less than four months of national roll out across Kenya, TIBU has already captured electronic medical records of 75% of the TB patients and have reimbursed over Ksh. 28 million ie about 146,000+ mobile payment transactions. Tabs are used for accessing electronic health records and the Capacity Building of the ministry staff on how to operate TIBU and for their Skill enhancements using short videos.
The Ministry of Health Kenya with the financial support from USAID has come out with TIBU,a Comprehensive Healthcare Delivery Solution in collaboration with Safaricom and its Innovation partners iridium Interactive and Tangazoletu.
This Innovation holds the potential to be scaled up Pan-Africa for other Vertical diseases like AIDS & Malaria.
The 2013 Google Innovation Awards Winners were announced at “Connected Kenya 2013” held at White Sands, Mombasa. The Connected Kenya Summit is the brainchild of the Kenya ICT Board in consultation with industry players and key government decision makers.
