N.Y. Giants quarterback Eli Manning spoke about numerous topics in a podcast with Brandon Steiner, CEO of Steiner Sports. His mastery of "bath time," his father and goal of a third Super Bowl Ring are among the subjects.
Online PR News – 06-May-2013 – New Rochelle, NY – New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has surely mastered the passing game, with two Super Bowl MVP trophies on his mantel. And in a recent podcast with Steiner Sports Founder and CEO Brandon Steiner, he reveals that since the birth of his daughter Ava Frances two years ago that “bath time is kind of my specialty. I’ve mastered it.”
Manning and his wife Abby have a second child on the way in June.
It should come as no surprise that Eli is a family man, since he comes from one of football’s most famous clans. Older brother Peyton, of course, is Denver’s superb QB and a Super Bowl champ in Indianapolis, while father Archie was the longtime field general for the New Orleans Saints. Eli revealed in the podcast that the most important guidance he ever received was from dad. “No one talks in the huddle. That’s rule one. That’s the first thing my dad told me as advice for being a quarterback,” he says. “If they’re talking, tell them to be quiet. I have to use some choice words, sometimes.”
Eli says that he is still yearns for yet a third championship. “That’s the thing about championships – once you experience one or two, you never get satisfied,” he says. “It’s a feeling you want again. It’s that high. I’ve never done drugs, but that’s what it must feel like. It’s a feeling you want again. Makes you work through the whole off-season and make that total commitment.”
“It takes 11 guys coming together and doing the right thing,” Manning tells Steiner. “There’s a mental aspect to being a quarterback – figuring out defenses, picking up protections. It’s like problem-solving.”
In the podcast, which can be listened to on Steiner’s blog – www.BrandonSteiner.com/blog - Manning also explains why the last Giants’ season went awry, how his teammates feel about his beloved country music, and why he had a Dwight Shrute (from The Office) bobblehead doll in his old locker.
NOTE – Anyone who leaves a comment on the blog post will be eligible to win an Eli-Manning-signed football.
