Online PR News – 04-May-2013 – Delhi – The most awaited event by engineers “GATE-2013” was conducted on 20-Jan-2013 and 10-feb-2013 in both offline and online modes, in 900 centres and around 180 cities. The three hour test consists of 65 questions and maximum of 100 marks. Like the name GATE, this particular exam has opened several Gates of opportunities to Indian engineers. This time dozens of Maharatna and Navratna companies are hiring through GATE making this exam more fascinating. GATE-2013 was organized by IIT Bombay, administered by IISC Bangalore and jointly conducted by other IIT’s under the banner of Ministry of Human Resource and Development.

Q. What tips and strategies you had suggested to GATE-2013 appearing students?

According to me accuracy and time management are very important factors to crack GATE examination, where strong basics and conceptual knowledge plays a vital role. Around 9 lacs students appeared and 1.36 lacs students qualified, in this cut throat competition, it is expected to solve maximum number of questions accurately in given time frame. At MADE EASY we do all possible efforts to provide the best quality of teaching with effective and systematic study program.

Q. What is the success rate of MADE EASY students in GATE-2013?

At MADE EASY we focus more on quality, which helps students to get better ranks. Since a decade several times MADE EASY students have topped GATE exam, and this year i can say the success rate of MADE EASY students was quite impressive. Our students have bagged rank-1 in Civil, Mechanical, Production & Industrial engineering, 26 students obtained top 10 ranks and 178 students managed to find their names in top 100 rank lists. I wish them great future and stable career.

Q. What is your view about the standard of paper and expected cut off marks in GATE-2013?

After glancing the paper and discussing with several students and faculty members, it was a mix kind of reaction, in few streams paper was tougher in comparison with previous year papers and certain papers were standard and moderate.

• Civil Engineering: This year paper was online for the very first time and question paper of civil engineering was among the toughest in last 5 years, the standards of questions were very good. The difficulty of the paper increased due to fill in the blanks and numerical data type questions.
• Mechanical Engineering: Production engineering, heat and mass transfer and engineering mathematics was tough in comparison with previous year paper..
• Electrical Engineering: Relatively less weight age was given to subjects like electrical machines, power system, and measurement and at the same time subjects like subjects like network, control system, digital electronics, signals & systems were more scoring. According to be me 75 marks could be a commanding score considering the above said factors.
• Electronics Engineering: The core subjects like communication system, control system and analog electronics were given weight age, mathematics and verbal ability was quite easier and scoring. I feel 25 to 28 marks could be the cut off and 75 marks could be the score of the topper.
• Computer Science/IT Engineering: I would like to comment overall it was balanced and standard one yet better than the year 2011 and 2012. The cut off range could vary from 26 to 28 marks for general candidates and I feel toppers score could be 85 marks.

Q. What is the importance of GATE exam, why it has become so fascinating among engineers now days?

Even I notice a tremendous increase in engineers appearing for this exam. GATE exam is bridge to higher education like M.Tech, M.S, Ph.D in prestigious institutes providing excellent campus placements in niche industries; several public sectors are directly recruiting through GATE score. After post graduation candidate become expertise in their own field and become eligible for scientist and research domain jobs enjoying stable career, attractive pay scale, higher designations and more valuable job satisfaction.

Q. What is the course of action after GATE results? Can you throw some light on Post graduate admission process?

It is an important aspect; a fruitful post graduation is a combination of better college and better subject specialization. IISC Bangalore starts registration within a week from commencement of gate results, NIT’s in the month of Apr/May and Candidate need to apply individually to suitable and preferred colleges. Around 70% weight age is given GATE score and 30% to academic record and performance in interview. The admission procedures depends from college to college and internal departments, few colleges provide direct admission on basis of GATE score, some colleges conduct interviews and again some colleges conduct their own written examination.
