Online PR News – 25-May-2010 – – Goshen – Glen Arden, Elant’s Continuing Care Retirement Community, will be hosting a book signing and open forum with local authors Deb and Val Gantt (aka DeVa Gantt) on June 11 at 2 p.m. The event is open to the public and free of charge.
Deb and Val are gaining notoriety up and down the eastern seaboard with their trio of historical fiction novels, The Colette Trilogy. The duo, residents of the Hudson Valley, began writing the series nearly 30 years ago, back when Deb was attending Montclair State College, and Val was a new teacher at Sacred Heart School in Suffern.
By 2005, Deb and Val decided to self-publish their first novel, at that time entitled Colette’s Prayer. But it didn’t take long for them to realize that writing a story was only the beginning of a long endeavor that included extensive research, arduous editing, painstaking proofreading, and the pursuit of a traditional publisher. In 2007, Deb and Val found what they were looking for at HarperCollins Publishing.
Forever Waiting, published in December 2009, is the third book in their Colette Trilogy, which commences with A Silent Ocean Away and continues with Decision and Destiny. The authors have been featured in articles, book reviews, radio and cable TV shows, and on-line websites.
The novels trace the tragedies and triumphs of a fictional 19th Century American family, the prosperous Duvoisins. It is the story of Charmaine, an idealistic young woman of humble beginnings, who, upon suffering a terrible loss, sets off for the Caribbean to start a new life. Securing the position of governess to the Duvoisin children, she conceals her shameful past, but soon discovers the Duvoisins keep a far deeper and darker secret.
Deb and Val will be sharing their inspirations and holding a question & answer session during their visit to Glen Arden on June 11. Books will be available for purchase and the authors will hold a book signing. For more information, contact Glen Arden Marketing Director Suzanne Forni at 845.360.1407 or write to email@example.com.
