Ford announces that they will be producing a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine and Robbie Roberson Ford of Waycross, GA has all the details
Online PR News – 25-April-2013 – Waycross Georgia – Ford Motor Company has recently announced that they will be producing their first 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine. In order to meet global demand of four-cylinder EcoBoost engines, Ford will begin producing their fifth EcoBoost engine beginning this year. The fuel-efficient 1.5-liter EcoBoost is set to debut in North America in the all-new 2014 Ford Fusion. Robbie Roberson Ford of Waycross, GA has the latest details on the all-new EcoBoost and Ford’s 2014 Fusion.
“Ford EcoBoost technology has changed the way people look at gas engines and has enjoyed huge success with customers,” explains vice president of powertrain engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. “The new 1.5-liter unit further extends our EcoBoost promise of economical driving in terms of both fuel efficiency and—in some markets – tax savings.”
Ford plans on producing their new EcoBoost at their Craiova, Romania world-class facility beginning late April. The all-new 1.5-liter EcoBoost will first make its debut in the Ford Mondeo in China. The public can expect to see the new engine for the first time at Auto Shanghai 2013 later this April. Ford’s new engine will make its debut in North America shortly after, debuting in the 2014 Ford Fusion.
The brand-new 1.5-liter EcoBoost will be the first Ford engine to incorporate a computer-controlled clutch on the belt-drive water pump. This will help maximize efficiency by reducing engine warm-up time. In order to offer a more efficient feed of air into the engine, a water-cooled charge air cooler has been added to the new EcoBoost engine as well.
Ford’s EcoBoost engines have become the most well-know engines in the automotive market, improving fuel efficiency near 20 percent while reducing emissions by 15 percent. In fact, by the end of 2013 nearly 80 percent of Ford vehicles will have fuel-saving EcoBoost technology available. Robbie Roberson Ford will have more details on the 2014 Fusion and the 1.5-liter EcoBoost as soon as more features are unveiled.
