Bonner Springs Ford Announces ZeroHouse 2.0 with MyEnergi Lifestyle
04/23/2013

Ford is partnering with KB Home to feature C-MAX Energi technologies in the ZeroHouse 2.0 sustainable living home.

Online PR News – 23-April-2013 – Kansas City, KS – In time for Earth Day 2013, Ford announced a partnership with KB Home that will feature technologies from the Ford MyEnergi Lifestyle initiative in ZeroHouse 2.0 in San Marcos, California. Find the C-MAX Energi and the MyEnergi Lifestyle technologies at Kansas City, KS Ford dealer, Bonner Springs Ford.

“KB Home is a leader in incorporating state-of-the-art sustainable building practices, and we’re thrilled to feature MyEnergi Lifestyle products in these homes,” said Mike Tinskey, Ford global director of vehicle electrification and infrastructure. “The home and vehicle share a common ‘fuel’ called electricity, now more than ever. Our commitment to sustainability compels us to work collaboratively to find technology solutions that are greater than the sum of the parts.”

MyEnergi Lifestyle uses technology to make high energy consuming home appliances use less energy. For example, energy costs are lower at night so using MyEnergi Lifestyle a small refrigerator can defrost or make ice at a lower cost, the same way Ford plug-in vehicles like the C-MAX Energi recharge.

MyEnergi Lifestyle is a collaboration of leaders in home appliance, solar power and power management. In a study with the Georgia Institute of Technology, by moving to an energy-efficient lifestyle a single family home could see a 60 percent reduction in energy costs. If every home in the U.S. were to adopt the lifestyle, energy savings would be the equivalent of taking every home in California, New York and Texas – 32 million homes – off the grid.

ZeroHouse 2.0 is part of a national rollout of net-zero energy home options that KB Homes began in 2011. A whole-home approach made ZeroHouse 2.0 more efficient than ever. A fully equipped ZeroHouse could use 20 percent less water than a typical home and eliminate monthly energy charges.

The 2013 Ford C-MAX Energi achieves an EPA estimated 100 MPGe combined and gives the driver “real car” performance with 195 horsepower. The SmartGauge with EcoGuide helps achieve maximum fuel economy with a variety of options. Starting at $29,995, the Ford C-MAX Energi is the most affordable plug-in hybrid.
