Online PR News – 22-April-2013 – ELYRIA, Ohio – ELYRIA, Ohio - The star of the New York Auto Show happened to be a minivan—the 2014 Honda Odyssey. Honda introduced an industry-first on-board vacuum called the HondaVac. Jack Matia Honda in Elyria, OH (jackmatiahonda.com) is excited for its release later this year.
“The Odyssey is already the leader in its segment, and for 2014, Honda has made the modern family hauler even better,” said Michael Accavitti, vice president of marketing operations at American Honda. “Honda is once again showcasing its reputation for innovation with HondaVAC, and its ability to provide true value to our customers.”
The HondaVAC is built into the rear cargo area and comes with two attachments to reach into small crevices. The hose can reach all the way up to the front seat to get every nook and cranny. The HondaVAC can run for eight minutes with the Odyssey’s engine turned off, and as long as you need with the engine on.
Designed in collaboration with Shop-Vac, the idea was inspired by a Honda engineer’s daughter who said, “Dad, you need a vacuum in here,” when he complained about the mess in the van.
The HondaVAC will be available on the 2014 Honda Odyssey’s Touring Elite trim that will be rolling into dealerships later this summer. The 2014 Odyssey is significantly upgraded for the model year and features a new structure that has already earned the a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Other features include a new exterior design, LED taillight bars, all-new center stack, keyless Smart Entry with Push Button Start, HondaLink, and HD Radio.
