“To Go Before” brings the first national gathering of Prius owners to California in June.
APRIL 5, 2013, RIVERSIDE, CA - "To Go Before," a national gathering of Prius owners, will assemble for the first time in Riverside, California on June 14, 15 and 16. Participants can attend technical sessions, see various products for and associated with the Prius, have opportunities to drive all four models in the Prius family, and socialize with fellow enthusiasts.
"To Go Before," a latin translation for "Prius," begins on the evening of Friday, June 16, with a welcome gathering at the Sunkist Center located in the beautiful California Citrus State Historic Park. Saturday, June 15, will include technical sessions, the Toyota Ride & Drive, shared meals, and sponsor exhibits. Saturday evening will feature a private reception for the attendees, and on Sunday, a caravan of Prius from every model and generation will drive together up to Lake Arrowhead. The focus for the weekend is to provide a high-quality, personal experience for the attendees. Organizers are making an effort to create a gathering that is different from a typical car show or enthusiast meet-up.
Since 2000, the Toyota Prius has inspired a dedicated following now numbering in the millions. "Prius" has become synonymous with "Efficient," "Advanced technology," and "Hybrid." Prius buyers are recognized as one of the most active and passionate groups of owners, gathering online at PriusChat.com and in regional clubs such as the Orange County Prius Club and the SoCal Prius Group.
TGB4, the shorthand for the event, has been planned and organized by two long-time Prius owners and enthusiasts. Danny Cooper started PriusChat.com in 2003 and now, with almost 100,000 members, is the largest Prius forum on the planet. Russell Frost started priusownersgroup.com in 2005, as a news blog containing information and commentary of note to Prius owners. Cooper and Frost have partnered to launch this event after more than 18 months of planning. This initial event is planned to be an intimate, friendly gathering.
"Our focus," say Cooper and Frost, "has been simply to give Prius owners a chance to spend time together learning more about their cars and each other. We've intentionally created a small, exclusive event."
California Citrus State Historic Park was chosen for its location, just minutes from Los Angeles, but outside the cacophony of the city. The beautiful park hearkens back to a time in the early 20th century when California was experiencing its second gold rush. Filled with more than 75 varieties of citrus trees, dozens of different palms and gorgeous landscaping, the park is the perfect setting for environmentally-conscious Prius owners.
Riverside is a city undergoing an incredible renaissance. The classic heart of Inland Empire, Riverside is only a few minutes from Ontario International Airport and a little more than fifty miles due east of Los Angeles International. Organizers hope that Prius owners from all over the United States will attend as well local and regional owners.
To Go Before 2013 is private enterprise not associated with Toyota, but Toyota is helping make TGB4 possible as the presenting sponsor. TGB4 is currently signing up a number of sponsors that will bring a variety of other products both related directly to the Prius and items of interest to Prius owners.
