Fifth Annual Arts Gala Coming to Baton Rouge

The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) presents its fifth annual Arts Gala on Tuesday, April 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Manship Theatre at the Shaw Center for the Arts located in downtown Baton Rouge.The production features the school’s top artists.

Online PR News – 10-April-2013 – Baton Rouge,LA – The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) presents its fifth annual Arts Gala on Tuesday, April 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Manship Theatre at the Shaw Center for the Arts located in downtown Baton Rouge. The 60-minute production features the school’s top talent in music, dance, theatre, visual arts, and creative writing and is free and open to the public.

This year’s event will be emceed by Jason El Koubi, Assistant Secretary for Louisiana Economic Development (LED) and a 1996 graduate of LSMSA. El Koubi is the former policy director of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) where he played an integral role in transforming BRAC into one of the leading regional economic development organizations in the nation. Prior to his appointment as assistant secretary, El Koubi led development of the state's long-term economic growth strategy as LED's director of state economic competitiveness. We are honored to have him share the stage with current LSMSA students.

Among the highlights of the 2013 Arts Gala will be selections from the LSMSA Theatre Repertory Company spring musical: Zombie Prom, several choreographed pieces from the LSMSA dance ensemble, various vocal and instrumental performances, and two readings of original prose and poetry. Selected work from the visual arts studios will be featured in the Manship Theatre lobby.

About the Arts Gala:
Since 2009, LSMSA has taken its extraordinary arts programs to Baton Rouge for an Annual Arts Gala, a concert-style review of the school’s best talent. Because LSMSA enrolls students from throughout the state, the Gala presents some of the state’s best talent as well. The 2013 Gala will include twenty-seven students from eighteen different cities and communities. The gala features performances in music, dance, and theatre, and includes displays of visual arts and readings of creative writing.
