Children's book author, Monika Mira receives another award for her educational marine life coloring textbook. Her book is already used in classrooms across the country, but is becoming more recognized as a way to teach children about the importance of reef conservation.
Online PR News – 02-April-2013 – (Lihue, HI) – The Complete Hawaiian Reef Fish Coloring Book adds another award to its growing list that includes the Dr. Toy Best Vacation Product, Creative Child Magazine Book of the Year, and the Ziggits Gold Star Award. This year, The Complete Hawaiian Reef Fish Coloring Book made the KART Kids Book List (which includes only 27 books) out over 2000 books submitted.
Author, Monika Mira is elated to receive another award for book. She says that the main reason she writes about marine life is to foster an attitude of conservation in young readers. “Our marine resources are in danger and I feel that it is my duty to not only highlight all the fun and interesting facts about these amazing animals, but also make children aware of the things that may threaten their existence. I am committed to teaching children to become stewards of the environment, so in my books, you will often see a list of ways that children can help conserve these animals and their environment.”
Mira is also the author of the best selling, Science and Nature for Young Readers Series available for the Amazon Kindle. Her Kindle titles in this series include: Coral Reefs, Fun Fish Facts for Kids, and Hawaii’s Green Sea Turtles. She is even reaching out to the littlest readers with her newest book, a bedtime story titled, Who Lives in the Sea? Ocean Animals of Hawaii.
About the KART Foundation:
The Kids Are Readers Too (KART) Foundation is the private philanthropy division of PediNatural®. The KART Foundation believes that introducing many types of literacy at an early age will allow children to naturally master the developmental milestones that are essential to solid learning foundations.
The KART Kids Book List is a yearly competition assembled to introduce children’s books with age appropriate content that is considered memorable and will enhance the gift of learning as a child grows. Titles for the list are chosen by a selection committee.
As for Mira, she intends to keep writing. “The more information I can get out there about reef conservation, the better.” While her books are widely used in classrooms, she hopes that her books will help more teachers incorporate conservation efforts into their curriculum.
