The all-new 2014 Camaro Z/28 debuted last week at the New York International Auto Show.
Online PR News – 02-April-2013 – Louisville, KY – Last week at the New York International Auto Show, Chevrolet unveiled the all-new 2014 Camaro Z/28. According to Bob Montgomery Chevrolet representatives in Louisville, Kentucky, the 2014 Z/28 has its roots in the head-turning sports car of 1967: the very first Z/28, which was specifically designed to compete in the Sports Car Club of America’s Trans-Am 2 class. Noted for its power and its light curb weight, the Z/28 delivers full-throttle performance with nimble handling and race-competitive speed.
Fans of the original Z/28 will see much of its design language brought to life in the 2014 model. At the same time, the 2014 Camaro carries much of today’s design elements and technology, geared to earn it the title of “pack leader” when it hits the race tracks. Enhancements for the fully integrated aerodynamic package include a large splitter (connecting to an underbody panel to reduce lift), fender flares (which are placed over both front and rear wheels), and extended rocker panels (which help with aerodynamic stability). The functional diffuser and rear spoiler also improve aerodynamics.
Brembo Carbon Ceramic Matrix™ rotors and fixed, monoblock calipers are also featured on the 2014 model. In addition, drivers will appreciate the humongous Pirelli PZero® Trofeo R 305/30ZR19 summer-only tires, as well as spool-valve dampers.
This high-performance race Camaro is powered by a hand-assembled LS7 V8 engine that delivers 500 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a TREMEC TR6060 six-speed manual gearbox with close-ratio gearing. Other powertrain technologies include a 5.1:1-ratio short-throw shifter, limited-slip differential, a Performance Traction Management system, titanium intake valves and connecting rods, a 10.5-quart dry-sump oiling system, and a cooling system.
The interior is marked by flat-bottom steering, performance pedals, the short-throw shifter, and racing seats designed by RECARO.
The 2014 Camaro Z/28 will arrive at Bob Montgomery Chevrolet in the fall of 2014.
