Malaysia Airlines Group CEO Encik Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said, “The expansion is in line with increasing flights as we take one 160-seater 737-800 aircraft per month, two more 494-seater A380 and four- 283-seater A330-300 aircraft this year. The plan is part of our business strategy and to bring improvements within Malaysia and in the Asia Pacific regions where there is high demand of flights brought about by the growing global commerce. To make this a reality, we will be incorporating extra new aircrafts designed with modern facilities and through increase in our fleet size. We are positive that through these movements, we will be able to serve our clients better and we will be continuing to drive more revenues. WE are integrating a lot of changes that will be bringing more flights in Malaysia and beyond.”
Some highlights of their improvements that will take effect on 31st March 2013 include increase in flight frequency from 25 to 28 with tours from Kuala Lumpur to Manila, increase to 10 weekly flights from Kuala Lumpur-Yangon and Kuala Lumpur-Colombo routes. Beginning 1st April 2013, there will be a new B777-200 service that will be flying from Kuala Lumpur-Dhaka and Kuala Lumpur-Denpasar (Bali). Effective on 17th June 2013, the daily service for Kuala Lumpur-Brisbane route will be increased to daily flights adding 566 seats in each direction. Moreover, beginning 15th August 2013 the capacity of their Kuala Lumpur-Bandar Seri Begawan flight will be increased by 11%.
