Bluerank, Polish Search Engine Marketing agency, has published another of its whitepapers. This time the agency focused on Russian Internet which is known as Runet.

The first part of the report proves that there is huge growth potential in Runet. Within 4 years the number of its users increased more than five times. In April 2009 there were 64.335 million Runet users from the Russian Federation, 11.886 million from Ukraine and 4 million from the USA. According to http://www.fom.ru/, in March 2009, the number of adult users was 37.5 million, i.e. 33% of the total population of the country with a daily number of ‘Runauts’ exceeding the threshold of 20 million.

What is also interesting, in the end of 2008, Russia was on the 3rd place in the world in terms of quantity of Internet users (with 38 million, according to research conducted by Nielsen agency), second only to Germany (49 million) and Brazil (39 million). In 2012 there will probably be 57 million of Runet users, including 31 million citizens of the Russian Federation.

The second part of the research describes the market of contextual advertising in Runet. There is a description of the users with a division on target groups, as well as information on the most dynamic sectors of the Russian Internet. The aim was to present the current pay-per-click prices and compare the costs of advertising in various sectors. The information was completed with a description of the most popular search engines.
