African American model/actress Vel Jones breaks boundaries as star of prominent Hollywood Billboard

Vel Jones is the only model on a popular billboard representing photographer Sylvie Blum's work being shown at the world-renowned Fahey/Klein gallery. Ms. Jones crosses color lines as the first African American model to be featured solo on this billboard owned by CBS.

Online PR News – 12-March-2013 – Los Angeles, CA – Alice Hewlett Management is excited to announce the unveiling of the main advertising billboard at the major intersection of Sunset Blvd. and Highland Ave. in Hollywood, CA. This stunning advertisement features AH Management’s client, Vel Jones as the lone model representing photographer Sylvie Blum’s work being featured at the world-renowned Fahey/Klein art gallery. This moment is especially groundbreaking because Ms. Jones is the first up & coming African American model and actress to receive such an opportunity. Her striking beauty has crossed color lines as CBS, Sylvie Blum, and Fahey/Klein decided that she would best help to represent their brands.

AH Management believes this will bode well for Ms. Jones as the Sunset and Highland intersection is one of the busiest and most well known locations in Los Angeles. Sylvie Blum’s photos are featured alongside several of the late photographer Herb Ritts’s pieces. The massive billboard, which is owned by CBS, will remain up for an entire month, something that is unprecedented in the Hollywood area.

Vel Jones is thrilled about what this means for not only her but also for other minorities making their way through the incredibly challenging world of entertainment. Originally from the small picturesque island of Brigantine, NJ and a graduate of Atlantic City High School and New York University, Ms. Jones came to the west coast with plans to achieve success in the worlds of film and television. She can also be seen in national commercials for Adidas and Budweiser. More of her work can be found at
