E-Gas to Power All-New Audi A3 Sportback

Several models of the all-new Audi A3 Sportback announced, including an all-electric E-Tron and e-gas powered G-Tron model.

Online PR News – 12-March-2013 – Pittsburgh, PA – Audi has recently announced that the all-new A3 Sportback will offer several fuel-efficient powertrains, including a diesel engine, an all-electric E-Tron model and a brand-new e-gas powered G-Tron model. The G-Tron will be powered by Audi’s new and innovative carbon-natural compressed natural gas known as e-gas. The all-new A3 Sportback and several of the brand-new models will be available at South Hills Audi of Pittsburg, PA in the near future.

The unique e-gas featured in the G-Tron will be created in a Werlte, Germany plant. Electricity is used to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, mixing the hydrogen with carbon dioxide to create “synthetic methane.” The e-gas has the ability to power the A3 for almost 250 miles with an available gasoline tank to give the A3 an additional 560 miles of range. Together, both engines power the A3 G-Tron to drive over 800 miles.

Audi’s new A3 E-Tron features all-new plug-in hybrid technology to make this Sportback all-electric. Making its debut at the 2013 Geneva Auto Show, the E-Tron will be powered by a 1.4-liter gasoline engine mated to an electric motor to deliver 204 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque.

“At the Geneva Motor Show, the Audi A3 e-tron will provide a realistic glimpse into the future of mobility as Audi is planning it,” Audi explains in a recently release. “The electrification of the drivetrain, above all using plug-in technology, plays a deciding role in the strategy of the brand.”

The Geneva Auto Show will also debut the next-generation Audi Q7, sporting Audi’s all-new design plan. This Q7 will come with a 3D-effect grille with high-quality materials and several all-new details that will stand out amongst competitors.
