To determine which truck deserved the title, Motor Trend submitted the nation’s most renowned trucks to a series of tests. According to Motor Trend, “At the end of our testing, the decision was unanimous. Hands down, the Ram ran away with this Truck of the Year award.”

Drivers have the option of three powerful engines. The 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 flex-fuel capable engine delivers 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. It also has received a best-in-class EPA-estimated fuel economy of 25 mpg on the highway. Drivers can also opt for the 5.7-liter HEMI® V8, which produces 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque, meriting 20 mpg on the highway. Finally, drivers can choose the 4.7-liter flex-fuel V8 that is good for 310 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque and which also gets 20 mpg on the highway. The Ram 1500 is the only light-duty truck in the country to offer an available Torqueflite™ eight-speed transmission.

Max towing for the 2013 Ram 1500 is 10,450 lbs. It gets a max payload of 1,909 lbs. The award-winning truck was submitted to 9 million miles and 40,000 hours of testing. It comes with a five year/100,000 mile powertrain limited warranty.

The exterior is bold and ferocious. Some of the most notable features are the projector head beams, active grille shutters, exterior aerodynamics, and the Rambox® cargo management system. Inside, the Ram 1500 features an electronic vehicle information cluster, a rotary e-shifter, the Uconnect® Access System, and a refined interior of new fabrics and leather. Safety is maintained through Accident Avoidance, which includes Electronic Stability Control, Trailer Sway Control, and four-wheel Antilock Brakes.
