Ford has recently invested over $773 million in renovating and expanding Michigan manufacturing plants.
Online PR News – 12-March-2013 – Charlottesville, VA – Ford Motor Company has recently announced that they are planning renovation and expansion of their Michigan manufacturing plants. Ford plans on investing over $773 million in the project, with plans to purchase new equipment and expand capacity in the six manufacturing plants located in southeast Michigan. Eddins Ford of Madison, VA proudly supports the expansion since this project will create many jobs while supporting the growth and popularity of Ford vehicles.
“Even as we wrap up an incredibly busy year of capacity expansions and product launches, we are continuing to look to the future,” explains Ford vice president of North American Manufacturing, Jim Tetreault. “These investments, many of which are already under way, will ensure our southeast Michigan manufacturing facilities can support our aggressive growth plans.”
As a part of Ford’s plan to add 12,000 hourly jobs across the U.S. by 2015, these plant renovations will create over 2,350 new hourly jobs while retaining an additional 3,240 hourly jobs. Ford also plans to invest a total of $6.2 billion in plants across the U.S. by 2015. This is a part of their One Ford Plan to create jobs, upgrade products and make several company changes by 2015.
Across all six Michigan plants, a total of $773 million will be invested for expansion and renovations. The Michigan Assembly Plant will receive $59.4 million for stamping press line expansion while the Dearborn Stamping Plant will invest $305 million in plant modernization, new press lines, a scrap conveyor system and other machinery and equipment.
The Flat Rock Assembly plant will receive $161 in machinery and equipment to assemble the all-new Ford Fusion, the Sterling Axle Plant will receive $86 million for new machinery and equipment to meet the increasing demand for axles and the Van Dyke Transmission plant is planning on investing $87.7 million for machinery and equipment to meet capacity expansions for 6F35 and 6F50 transmissions.
