(CORPUS CHRISTI, TX) $3,500 worth of scholarships will be awarded to area college students during the Arte Verde exhibit opening and awards presentation. Arte Verde, presented by Allied Waste Services and La Palmera, features one-of-a-kind art made completely of recycled materials and traditional art materials highlighting an Earth-friendly message in honor of Earth Day and Month. By participating, students showed a creative commitment to the environment and its future. Accolades will be given on Thursday, April 22 from 5:30 until 7 p.m. More than 40 students competed for 1st ($2,000), 2nd place ($1,000), and 3rd and 4th places ($500 each). Entries were judged on an earth-friendly message, creativity, and execution.

“Allied Waste Services is dedicated to preserving the environment, and environmental responsibility is part of our everyday mantra so we are honored to be a part of this unique, first-time event,” says Robert Bradley, General Manager of Allied Waste Services.

Arte Verde exhibit will take place from Thursday, April 22 through Sunday, May 23. It is located on the 2nd floor of La Palmera adjacent to the children’s play area.
