All 2013 Chevrolets will feature an Ecologic window label. Local Elkhart Indiana dealership, Tom Naquin, is excited to share in the environmental efforts of Chevrolet.
Online PR News – 07-March-2013 – Elkhart Indiana – In 2011, Chevrolet made a pledge to reduce up to eight million metric tons of carbon dioxide emission.
Ecologic window labels will serve as the evidence of that environmentally-responsible awareness that is enacted throughout the procedures executed and products created by Chevrolet.
The Ecologic label was first introduced in January 2012 on the window of the Chevrolet Sonic.
It listed the environmental features of the vehicle as well as the techniques of its manufacturing facility that are employed to reduce its environmental impact. And, for the first time in the automotive industry, those credentials were audited and verified by an independent third-party, market-leading sustainability agency called Two Tomorrows.
Ecologic window labels are just another Chevrolet effort to ease both consumer and government environmental concerns alike. The automotive manufacturer utilizes various other strategies in strife of reducing emissions and waste, while conserving natural resources. Such strategies include development of alternative energy sources and fuel-saving technologies.
Many Chevrolet manufacturing plants are landfill-free and focus on efforts to reuse, recycle or convert waste into energy.
Seventeen percent of the Toledo Ohio manufacturing plant is powered by renewable landfill gas and its solar rooftop. The Tonawanda facility in New York hosts wildlife on its campus as well as electric-vehicle charging stations for its employees. And, the Fairfax Assembly of Kansas recycles 91 percent of its daily waste.
Together, these Chevrolet manufacturing plants reduced energy intensity by more than ten percent as an answer to the U.S. EPA ENERGY STAR Challenge.
Chevrolet vehicles like the Cruze Eco, Spark EV and Volt are manufactured to reduce waste and consumption for the entire duration of their lives. Fuel economy is maximized and improved through technologies like Continuously Variable Valve Timing, Direct Injection, Electric Power Steering, Electronically Controlled Six-Speed Transmission and lightweight materials. And, the majority of most Chevrolets are recyclable.
