Fort Worth, Texas - March 6, 2013 – Billy Bob's Texas, The "World’s Largest Honky Tonk" is officially home to the kickoff event for the first Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival on Thursday, March 27, 2014. The ticketed event will showcase over a dozen Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival chefs, wine makers, craft brewers and distillers, as well as include live music to be announced at a later date. Tickets are expected to go on sale this fall.
“Billy Bob’s is one of the most synonymous icons with Fort Worth, and I can’t be more excited to kickoff the Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival at such a historic venue,” enthuses Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival creator Russell Kirkpatrick. This award winning honkytonk is a fitting venue to begin this four-day Fort Worth celebration next spring, March 27-30, 2014. The festival honors the distinctive nature of Fort Worth cooking, food, beverage and culinary traditions and aims to bring national attention to the Fort Worth food scene.
Billy Bob’s new 81 Club will host a private event for sponsors the same evening preceding the main stage event. 81 Club Chef Mark Hitri and Billy Bob's President Concho Minick wanted to be involved with the festival to build Billy Bob's food and catering reputation and share in the excitement. “It will be an amazing event to kickoff an amazing four days of great food, wine, and now music,” says Kirkpatrick.
Texas Christian University graduate Concho Minick succeeded his father Billy Minick, becoming President of Billy Bob's Texas. According to Pam Minick, Billy Bob's marketing director, Concho's vision was to build more restaurants. Concho Minick says he is "thrilled to be a part of the Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival and tremendously excited for being chosen as the venue for the kickoff event.”
