Online PR News – 13-May-2010 – – This event has grown in popularity over the years and attracts both spectators and competitors from a whole host of countries. It is believed to be the biggest women’s mini marathon event in the world.

Since it began in 1983, the Flora Women's Mini Marathon has seen over 600,000 people take part and, in 2007, had a record number of runners – in excess of 40,000. Many of those taking part raise funds for charitable organisations and it is estimated the event has made over €100 million to date. With the success of the Flora Women's Mini Marathon in Dublin, similar events are now held in Liverpool, Oslo, Glasgow and London.

The race is set to start at Fitzwilliam Square – between Leeson Street and Baggot Street – and will follow a ten kilometre circuit around the city until reaching the finishing line at St. Stephen’s Green. There will be plenty of famous landmarks along the route, including Merrion Square, the National Art Gallery and the RDS, which will be great places to take up a place in the crowd.
