Online PR News – 10-May-2010 – – Hanson, the UK’s leading supplier of heavy building materials to the construction industry, has awarded Cosalt a major contract to supply a range of hi-vis workwear to the company's quarry products division. The order is worth in the region of £250,000 and involves the supply of hi-vis garments rolled out over a two-year period.
Workers at Hanson's 350 UK manufacturing sites will be supplied with three sets each of either a coverall or hi-vis work jacket and trouser combination from the Cosalt Atlas range, or flame retardant jackets, trousers and coveralls from the Magma range, as appropriate.
All the products are manufactured in hi-visibility orange and feature double stitched seams and tape for extra strength and durability. This makes them ideal for working in harsh gritty environments and areas where there is a high dust content. The garments will be branded with the Hanson logo and include additional design features.
Cosalt was awarded the contract on the back of its extensive experience of supplying bespoke workwear to the aggregates and quarrying market, where the wearing of hi-vis orange clothing is now standard safety practice. The company has done a great deal of research into designing workwear that meets the specific needs of the industry and ensuring garments can withstand an aggressive dusty environment.
Said Bill Leggett, Cosalt's National Account Manager: "This is a significant contract win for Cosalt and we are looking forward to working with Hanson. We are finding more and more companies in the aggregates market are now purchasing their workwear direct and having a wash only contract with their laundry provider. This means we will be working in partnership with the laundries to ensure the roll out progresses in line with the schedule."
Hanson produces aggregates (crushed rock, sand and gravel), ready-mixed and precast concrete, asphalt and cement-related materials and a range of building products including clay bricks and roof tiles, lightweight and dense concrete blocks and concrete pavers. The company is part of the Heidelberg Cement Group, which employs 53,000 people across five continents.
Cosalt is one of the UK's leading providers of protective clothing and equipment to the emergency services, military, transport and construction industries. For more information on Cosalt's wide range of products visit www.cosalt.com.
