Updated curriculum will incorporate dynamic simulation activities into intro class

Online PR News – 07-May-2010 – – BUFFALO, NY – Bryant & Stratton College, a pioneer in the field of career education since 1854 and the premier provider of online associate’s degrees, has announced that beginning in May its online criminal justice programs will feature Criminal Justice Interactive (CJi), a multimedia software program. Bryant & Stratton College will integrate CJi into all Introduction to Criminal Justice classes. The multimedia software will give certificate, associate’s degree and bachelor’s degree students an interactive introduction to the criminal justice system through dynamic simulation activities and learning modules. CJi will complement the current curriculum to give students a comprehensive and engaging foundation in criminal justice, including criminal behavior and law enforcement, as well as corrections and court systems.

“While our online criminal justice programs already feature podcasts, webinars and videos, we are excited to further enhance the student learning experience with this new interactive resource,” said Scott Traylor, Director of Admissions for Online Education at Bryant & Stratton College. “The Bryant & Stratton College Online criminal justice programs embrace technology so that students receive a multidimensional education, which will prepare them for careers in this rapidly growing industry.”

According to U.S. Department of Labor data, employment of private detectives and investigators is projected to increase 22 percent through 2018, while employment of probation officers and correctional treatment specialists is expected to grow 19 percent.

In addition to the robust curriculum and interactivity of the courses, Bryant & Stratton College Online’s criminal justice degree programs are also unique in that the faculty members are current or former criminal justice professionals, so they are able to apply their personal experiences to instruction, which augments the student learning experience even more.

“Many of us relate what is happening in our jobs to the topic being discussed in class each week, so the knowledge base students receive from the textbook is connected to real world scenarios we are experiencing in the field,” said Michael Skiba, Bryant & Stratton College Online instructor and a corporate fraud investigator. “Students also share what is happening in their local communities, so the online students are able to receive a national perspective that wouldn’t be found in a traditional classroom-based program.”

“My husband is a police officer and we often talk about how what I am learning directly applies to his experiences and I incorporate those connections into my coursework,” said Amber Brehmer, a student in Bryant & Stratton College Online’s Criminal Justice Associate’s Degree program. “I’m constantly impressed with how current the curriculum is and how responsive my instructors and academic advisors are. When I complete my associate’s degree, I’m definitely continuing on to get my Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Bryant & Stratton College Online.”
