Leading Key West hotels center, Key West Historic Inns, is gearing up for a slew of excellent springtime events this spring
Online PR News – 05-May-2010 – – Leading Key West hotels and information center, Key West Historic Inns, is always on top of the best events going on in Key West Florida in order to help Key West visitors plan out their ideal vacation. While May signals the start of Key West's "mid-season," visitors will find plenty of unique events throughout the months of May and June to keep them busy in addition to the always-available and always-fun Key West tours and activities.
The first main event going on in May is a production of the Broadway hit Stepping Out written by Richard Harris. The play starts on May 6th at the Waterfront Theater and, if you check it out, you will see that Key West actually has some great theater to offer despite its small size. Stepping Out is a musical comedy with a quirky group of main characters whose main goal is to learn to overcome their clumsiness in dancing and perform at a dance recital. The play illuminates the different characters' unique and charming personalities throughout the course of the plot.
Also in May, history buffs get ready! May 14th and 15th is the Harry S. Truman Legacy Symposium. This is a conference focusing on the US President Harry Truman and his time spent on the island of Key West. The conference begins on the evening of May 14th with tours of the Little White House and an interview with Ken Hechler, the president's former White House assistant. The conference's main day, Saturday May 15th, will feature prominent from different countries giving presentations on the Truman years.
Then at the beginning of June comes one of the nation's most energetic and exciting LGBT festivals, Pridefest Key West 2010: Diversity in Paradise. While the official event schedule has not yet been published, the event kicks off on Wednesday June 9th and runs through Sunday June 13th, with the main parade most likely taking place on Saturday afternoon. There is no better place than Key West Florida in which to celebrate Gay & Lesbian Awareness Month and the event coordinators for Pridefest Key West really do it up every year. Key West Historic Inns works with a variety of gay-friendly Key West hotels and Key West inns.
Also in June you will find a brand new event that locals and food & wine enthusiasts are very excited about: the first annual Key West Bacchanalia event from June 10 through June 13th. The event is described as a "food and wine event with a twist," the twist being competition among some of the Florida Keys' most highly-accredited chefs as well as national chefs and cooks including a few from Bravo's hit TV show Top Chef. There will be all kind of great events all weekend long where festival attendees can sample a huge variety of gourmet, local and international food and drinks.
