Online PR News – 05-May-2010 – – Greenwich, CT - Baby Boomers looking for timely, savvy, professional investment advice as regards their retirement need look no further than New Canaan portfolio manager Catherine Avery’s free upcoming seminar at the Greenwich Library on May 25 entitled; State of the Union for Baby Boomers.
“Making sure your investments are right for you in retirement is more important than ever because we are living longer and have to keep up with inflation,” says Avery, a portfolio manager with over 25 years of professional experience working for some of the biggest names on Wall Street. In this hour and a half seminar from 7-8:30 pm she will discuss the issues Baby Boomers face today when planning for retirement and offer practical steps to help maximize their investments.
A 2006 study by MetLife Mature Market Institute revealed that when asked what they wish they had done differently in preparing for retirement, more than 62% of aging Baby Boomers (55-59) suggested better financial and/or retirement planning. That theme was also strong with 60-65 year olds (49%) and 66-70 year olds (47%).
Avery, who runs her own investment firm Catherine Avery Investment Management, (CAIM) LLC in New Canaan, believes that Baby Boomers, who are just beginning to retire as a demographic, need to start repositioning their portfolios to ensure that they maximize their investments to last their retirement.
“A lot of people I talk to have not been saving a lot for retirement,” she explains. “Most people don’t know there are many practical steps they can take to help them reach their financial retirement goals.”
The seminar promises to be an eye opener for attendees and there will be time for questions and answers.
