Pediatric Orthopaedic Education Series Presented by Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children
Online PR News – 06-February-2013 – Dallas, TX – Texas Scottish Rite Hospital For Children will be presenting the Pediatric Orthopaedic Education Series on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children's T. Boone Pickens Training and Conference Center, 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, Texas 75219. The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, the accredited sponsor, is jointly sponsoring this activity with Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
The course is designed for pediatricians, family practitioners, orthopaedic surgeons, physician assistants, advanced practice nurses and allied health professionals. Lectures will be presented by the orthopaedic staff of Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Ample time will be allowed for discussion between the audience and the faculty.
At the end of the activity, participants should be able to:
1. Recognize pediatric orthopedic conditions requiring immediate referral for evaluation and intervention and those conditions which may safely be managed in the primary care provider’s office.
2. Summarize the current management of common pediatric orthopedic conditions.
3. Discuss treatment options for sprains and sports-related injuries and differentiate from fractures requiring referral.
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is accredited by ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Topics for this seminar include Common Pediatric Hand Problems and Finger Injuries, Legg-Perthes, Scoliosis and more. In addition to lectures, the seminar features live demonstrations and five labs. The labs will include Splinting Hand/Wrist, Clubfeet, Lower Extremity Examination, Examination for DDH and Back Evaluation / Scoliosis.
