Last year proved to be a huge year for Chrysler in terms of vehicle sales.
Online PR News – 06-February-2013 – Woodhaven, MI – Chrysler has continued their hot streak while posting a $1.7 billion profit in 2012. The huge sales numbers can be attributed to their much-improved trucks and cars. The upward swing should continue as 2013’s profits are expected to reach $2.2 billion. These numbers are a huge improvement over the $138 million they posted in 2011.
The majority of the auto brand’s sales come from the United States. Only one fourth of Chrysler vehicles purchased last year were from foreign countries. Overall auto sales in the US increased by 13 percent last year to a 5-year high with 14.5 million vehicles sold. Chrysler’s US sales went up 21% though as the improving US economy certainly helped bolster Chrysler’s performance and helped the auto brand achieve its high numbers."There can be no more doubt that our comeback is real," said Chrysler CEO, Serio Marchionne.
Moving forward, Chrysler’s goal in 2014 is to increase sales outside of North America and is shooting for 500,000 vehicles sold. To do so they’ll have to rely heavily on Jeep, their most popular international brand.
“That continues to be the single largest reliable instrument for international growth that Chrysler has at its disposal we need to continue to leverage it. We need to make it better," Marchionne said. "I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with both the Grand Cherokee we just launched and the Liberty successor that will be launched in New York at the auto show this year.”
Jeep’s international sales increased almost 50% last year. Jeep has been a big seller in the states as well. The Jeep Wrangler has been a very popular model and Marchionne is looking for ways to get more built.
“I’m now beginning to sound like a broken record, but if I had more Jeeps I’d sell more Jeeps," he said.
