Online PR News – 04-February-2013 – Boston, Mass – Humboldt Storage and Moving the oldest moving company in Boston has been transporting customers and their personal items for over 100-years. For the most part, moving can seem fairly straight forward; pack up belongings and transfer them to a new location. As basic as this seems there are a few items moving companies do not transport for safety or other reasons.
Below the experts from Humboldt provides a list of four items that are best left off the moving truck when packing up for the big day:
Food and beverages: Even in a short move it is best to keep food and most beverages off the moving van. Anything perishable can be compromised during transport by extreme temperature changes and other extenuating factors. Have a feast while packing other items to enjoy food items and keep anything from going to waste.
Paint and propane tanks: Any items that are flammable or combustible are prohibited from being transported. It is dangerous to carry anything combustible, especially when it is placed next to cherished belongings. While gas cans and propane tanks are definitely not allowed on moving truck other items which may be prohibited include pesticides and fertilizers. Be certain to find safe ways to dispose of inflammable items during the moving process.
Valuable items: Items that cannot be replaced like: cash, jewelry, check books, passports, doctor records and other important documents should be kept off the moving truck. It is in a mover’s best interest to carry irreplaceable items on their person to keep them from getting lost or misplaced on a busy moving day.
No pets: Moving companies do not transport animals to ensure the safety and security of precious pets. Take steps to keep pets protected on moving day by placing them with a friend or family member or check into doggie day care. Airlines can help make a safe plan to relocate pets as efficiently as possible.
