Online PR News – 06-February-2013 – Houston, TX – In the past six months we have been seeing a drop in car sales in younger consumers, which is the segment Honda has always focused on and has always been strong in, especially during the tuner craze of the 90's and early 2000's. Younger people are distracted these days with internet, smart-phones and lack of enough funds in hand due to student loans, rising gas prices etc. Therefore Honda has a master plan to combat this and attract younger generation.

He said that there are several factors behind what's happening. The most important thing is that for young people to buy cars, they need to find automobiles interesting and they must be motivated to want to buy it and drive it. The most common factor is that we have become kind of complacent in our efforts to really build a real fun and exciting car that is attractive to those people. He says Honda's biggest job is to build products they naturally feel like they want to buy. He also says that it is important to be aware of the fact that it is incredibly important to provide an affordable car. Honda knows that cost of ownership of the car is very important, in terms of fuel prices as increasing fuel efficiency is very important as it will make the car more affordable to buy and own. In the U.S market, a car is simply essential and one can't imagine a situation where you can go without it or you don't need it. Mr. Takanobu also emphasized on the fact that Honda cars need to be more attractive with more attractive technologies and designs. Honda feels that is very important to get feedback from young people as this helps in building their new models.

In United States, Honda has a very good reputation. Many young people are waiting for the forthcoming NSX. Also Honda's Civic SI with K20A vtec high horse power engine is a success. Honda expresses possibility of producing more sporty cars like the image Prelude & Integra had in the past.

Honda has also been very successful in developing direct injection Honda Engines and that is done on Accord. Honda is working hard to apply the direct injection technology to other engines soon. This will improve performance as well as efficiency of Honda cars. Honda also mentioned that it is thinking of applying turbos to other engine variations because direct injection allows free control of the combustion. Turbo-charging helps in better fuel efficiency as well as better dynamic performance. In this way, the engineers at Honda are striving forward to implement the next technological innovations.
