01/31/2013

Diabetes Art Day is the first Monday of February. This year, 2013, Diabetes Art Day falls on the 4th.

Online PR News – 31-January-2013 – Imperila Beach, CA – Diabetes Art Day is organized and facilitated by Lee Ann Thill, diabetes advocate and art therapist. She started Diabetes Art Day in 2010 to encourage individuals and families with diabetes to engage in creative visual expression to communicate their experience with diabetes, connect with others, raise awareness, and promote insight and positive coping skills. Having lived with type 1 diabetes since 1978, Lee Ann is dedicated to raising awareness about diabetes-related mental health issues, and advocating for improved mental health services.

Diabetes leads to many complicated and uncomfortable feelings, and one of the primary goals of Diabetes Art Day is to encourage people to express those feelings.

this year there are two galleries, the 2013 Gallery and the 2013 Children’s Gallery. This ensures that parents can share and discuss the project with their children without concern for exposing them to images they might find inappropriate for younger viewers.
