Online PR News – 30-January-2013 – Belgrade, Serbia – Ljubomir Erovic, founder and director of the World Testicle Cooking Championship, has formally challenged Reykjavik Mayor JĂłn Gnarr and an Icelandic team to take part in the tenth annual championship, to be held in Serbia on August 31, 2013. Icelanders are known for indulging in offbeat culinary specialties and traditionally prepare a dish of pickled ramâs testicles on the Viking holiday of ĂorrablĂłt.
âWe know Icelanders have the Best Party,â said Erovic, referencing Gnarrâs political group. âBut do they have the Best Balls?â
According to Erovic, a team from Iceland had been planning to compete at the 2012 competition but dropped out at the last minute. If Gnarr and an Icelandic team accept the challenge, Erovic will aim to get their flights sponsored by Serbiaâs JAT Airways, which has in the past promoted culture-bridging between these two nations. Erovic has also offered Gnarr an honorary position as presenter of the âBallsiest Man of the Year Award,â traditionally handed out during the test festâs closing ceremonies. âWeâre issuing a public challenge this year, because we want to find out if Iceland has the balls to show up,â said Erovic. âAs Gnarr once said: âJust because something is funny, doesnât mean it isnât serious.ââ
Anna Wexler, an American writer who has been the President of the Jury at the World Testicle Cooking Championship for the last four years, is eagerly looking forward to tasting Icelandic testicles. Although she has had some harrowing experiences in the countryâsuch as getting completely lost deep in a southern Icelandic forest, necessitating a rescue from the Icelandic Armyâshe has no regrets about her time spent in the land of fire and ice.
âI know Gnarr has got balls,â Wexler said, âI just hope he brings an extra pair to cook.â
The World Testicle Cooking Championship is the largest testicle cooking festival competition in the world, and is held annually in the Gornji Milanovic region of Serbia, where testicles are considered to be an aphrodisiac and a natural alternative to Viagra. To-date, the festival has seen dishes made from 16 different animals, including stallion, bull, ostrich, boar (hog), donkey, kangaroo, rabbit, deer, shark, ram, and swan.
