Belly Dancer-Singer + Live Musicians Begin a World Music Revolution in DC

A unique collaboration between a versatile belly dancer-vocalist, and a live band of Middle Eastern, Indian, and Latin musicians for entertainment that crosses cultures and promotes diversity in music and entertainment for DC metro residents.

Online PR News – 28-January-2013 – Washington, DC – The Kriya Collective is a new organization in Washington, DC dedicated to revolutionizing the live music and entertainment industry by encouraging diversity in music in the mainstream. Their unique events comprise of live music, belly dance, live vocals, and yoga and meditation to offer DC residents more diversity and richness in their nightlife experience.

Kriya's founder, Rimi Basu is a unique singer and dancer-turned MBA raised in a conservative Indian family in the DC area, who moved to India to pursue a career in music despite her family's will. Her mission has been to cross barriers of language, culture, and musical styles through developing fusion styles of music and dance. She most recently completed her MBA from one of the top business schools in the world, INSEAD, and looks forward to heading the world music movement through her events company, Open House Productions, in the United States.
