Bethany Haley, President and Brand Strategist, and Robin Tooms, Managing Director and Web Strategist, are being honored as part of the Houston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Awards to be held May 20, 2010 at the House of Blues in Houston.
Online PR News – 26-April-2010 – – To be identified as a business leader by a prestigious publication such as the Houston Business Journal is an accolade. But when two young professionals within the same branding firm are chosen for their exceptional leadership, it’s cause for celebration.
Bethany Andell Haley joined Savage as a Partner in 2001 and was promoted to President in 2007. She began her career in business development and soon began leveraging her educational background to assist Savage clients with brand positioning and marketing communications strategy. She has been a catalyst in expanding Savage’s focus to include complete branding services that complement its corporate design business.
Haley earned her MBA in Marketing and Corporate Strategy in 2001 from Rice University Jesse H. Jones School of Business and her BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Arizona in 1995.
Part of the nomination process includes recommendations from within the business community. Mark Frey, Managing Director, NYSE Euronext, applauded the pro-bono work Savage provides to the Houston community and Haley’s commitment to her professional development as co-founder of The Rice Graduate Roundtable. Since 2004, Haley also has been a board member of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) – Houston Chapter.
Robin Tooms has been with Savage for more than 12 years. As Brand and Web Strategist, Tooms works closely with clients to develop brand positioning, core messaging, marketing strategies and brand identities.
Tooms also received her MBA with a focus on Branding and Marketing from Rice University Jesse H. Jones School of Business and holds an honors degree in Graphic Communications from the University of Houston, where she remains an active alumnus through the Graphics Alumni Partnership (UHGAP) program.
Her ongoing leadership role with the Jones School includes serving on the Board of Directors of the Jones Partners, a professional affiliate organization dedicated to bridging the business school with the Houston business community. William H. Glick, Dean of Jones Graduate School of Business acknowledged Tooms’ skill at relationship building and credits those efforts to increased participation in Jones Partners events.
As part of that bridge-building process, Tooms has been instrumental in collaborating with the Houston Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA), where she serves as Vice President, Marketing Communications, bringing co-branded events to the Jones School. The Third Annual Marketing Symposium held in April 2010 was a direct result of that partnership.
Tooms was recently elected by her peers to the national board of AIGA, the professional association for design, after serving twelve years at the local chapter level, again demonstrating her dedication to branding and design communications at the highest level.
The 40Under40 awards program is part of the Houston Business Journal annual Celebrate!Enterprise program of business events. Forty professionals, under the age of 40, are selected from a variety of industries for demonstrating dynamic leadership in their community and respective fields. Recipients will accept the award on stage at the House of Blues, Houston, on May 20, 2010 before an expected audience of 500 of their peers.
